Why is my mic not working in Chrome?

Most likely a permission issue. Click the lock icon next to the URL, set Microphone to "Allow", then reload the page.

My mic works in some apps but not others

Each app needs separate permission. Check the app's settings for microphone access. On Windows, go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.

Go to system sound settings and increase the microphone input level/gain. Also check if your mic has a physical volume control or mute switch.

Check the physical connection — Is your mic plugged in? If wireless, is it charged and paired?
Unmute yourself — Check the mute button on your headset or app
Restart the app — Close and reopen the app that's not detecting your mic
Try a different USB port — If using a USB mic, switch ports
